10 Must Have Items for Your Summer Bag
Summertime is my favorite time of the year by far! After being a little bit bummed about moving away from home to the big city of Chicago a few months ago, summertime in the city has made me fall in love with Chi. We often spend our weekends out for the entire day and night because there’s just so much to do! We are adventurers for sure. Whether you’re going to the beach, wandering around the city, hiking, etc. there are 10 essential items you need in your summer bag!
1. *NEW* Starbucks® Bottled Dulce de Leche Frappuccino® Coffee Drink 13.7 oz Single Serve item only (not available in 4-pack) Available at Walmart
You all know I am a sucker for Starbucks, so it makes sense why I can’t go a day without it. What I love most about this new refreshing drink being available at Walmart is that it comes in a bottle you can just throw in your bag and take with you. Being someone who drinks coffee multiple times a day, this ready to go drink is perfect for a day out, especially a beach day! I found this flavor at my local Walmart Neighborhood Market in Lincoln Park. Conveniently located in aisle 12, you’ll find the new Starbucks® Bottled Dulce de Leche Frappacino® Coffee Drink, as well as the other Vanilla and Mocha flavors you already love! Also, since I know you’ll be drinking these all summer long, if you buy 3 ready to drink products you’ll get 35 stars in return! May as well stock up right? Just be sure to save your receipt in order to get your points!
Protecting your skin in the summer sun is so important! Always remember to pack a small bottle of sunscreen in your summer bag with you before heading out for the day. I used to be so against sunscreen, but I’ve been miserably burnt so many times that I think I’ve learned my lesson.
Ladies. I know you want to sport that long mermaid hair all summer, but lets get real. You’re going to get hot and then you’re going to get grouchy because your hair is bothering you. Maybe that’s just me, but I can’t live without having a back up ponytail in my summer bag. My hair is so long and thick that it gets to a point where in the heat it just needs to be put up! Don’t be miserable all day with your hair down. Pack a ponytail! or 6, because they always break. #thickhairprobz
Something I hope you already know to take, but always make sure you have a pair of sunglasses with you! No one likes having the sun in their eyes, so either wear them on you or throw them in your bag just in case!
I always see people in Chicago with headphones on and I totally get why! Your commute is often long so you need to entertain yourself. If you’re going to the beach pack your headphones so you can listen to music while you lay out instead of the drunk group of people yelling next to you. Even if you’re going out for a day of hiking or just walking around, listening to some tunes or a podcast can help keep up your pace!
It’s okay to get really sweaty. I get embarrassingly sweaty in the summer. I don’t wear makeup most of the time because it tends to just melt right now and then I suffer from a major breakout. My face gets red and it literally drips everywhere. Cute right? Beach or hike, pack a towel in your summer bag, even it’s just a hand towel!
I failed to learn to learn this until just a couple of summers ago. Your lips can easily get burnt in the summer if you don’t protect them. When you’re walking around you might not think about it, but your face is always being exposed to UV rays, so it’s important to not forget about our lips when packing your bag for the day!
I have a love/hate relationship with hats. They are great for bad hair days and for those days when your face is to sweaty to hold up your sunglasses. However, they can also be so uncomfortable when it’s hot out! I personally like to keep a hat with me just in case. Especially at the beach! It protects your face better than your sunglasses will.
For those beloved beach days. I personally like to wear my swimsuit and coverup to the beach, but just in case you’re out doing other things that day, pack it in your summer bag! You never know when you might take an impromptu dive in the lake.
Beach days are perfect for catching up on the Hollywood gossip + latest fashion trends. I just went to the beach the other days and I don’t know what I would have done without my magazines! It was blistering hot, but having something to occupy my time made me think so much less about the heat!
