5 Ways to Increase Productivity
Lately, I have been making a more conscious effort live a healthier lifestyle. I started running, and have the goal to run a 5k by the end of November! I’ve never ever been a runner, and I let myself hold me back from making this effort sooner. I just never thought I could do it, and to be honest, I lacked motivation to really push myself.
Have you thought lately about your goals? Maybe you have a big goal in mind and you aren’t sure how to achieve it, or maybe it’s just going to take you a long time. That’s okay! It’s easy to give up or not really see the point when you have such a big goal in mind. Since I gave myself the goal to run a 5k, something that has really helped me stay on track is giving myself Little Wins™ to celebrate. Obviously there is no way I can train myself to run a 5k overnight, so I celebrate things like being able to just 1 mile, run for 10 minutes straight, etc. It keeps me on track to reaching my big goal and keeps me motivated! The little wins are what get you to your big wins, and they are just as important to overall success.

Since I know many of you who read my blog are in college or might be starting a job for the first time, I wanted to give you all some tips for increasing your productivity throughout your day. Mainly by celebrating little wins + making smart food choices along the way! I know we are all busy on the go type of ladies, but thats no excuse to not be healthy while we are conquering the world. 1. Tackle Important To-Do’s Before Lunch
I used to start my day off by completing all of us easiest tasks first. However, I didn’t realize I was doing myself such a disservice! In the morning you are awake (thank you, coffee) and beginning your day, which is when you should be focusing on the big projects/papers. Do you ever get really tired about 2PM in the afternoon and you find those big projects SO awful? I know that’s exactly what happened to me. I lack motivation in the afternoon. It’s natural! Grab your coffee and tackle your big projects in the morning, that way after lunch time you can wind down your day by getting done those tasks that require less brain power.
2. Create a System/Lists
If you’ve been following me for a while then you already know what a fan I am of making lists! They truly keep you motivated + hold you accountable! I make a list at work every single day of what tasks need to be completed for that day. It gives me so much satisfaction when I mark something off, and it gives me motivation to want to keep checking tasks off my list. Try it + I guarantee you’ll become a fan!
3. Wake Up Earlier
Says every person ever, right? I don’t like waking up early either and some days I don’t. However, when you wake up earlier you generally have more time during the day to wake up, get a workout in, do some dishes, etc. Getting a task done in the morning will make you feel so much better whenever you get home. That’s one less chore + more Netflix time!
4. Get Away From Your Desk for Lunch
I am so so guilty of sitting at my desk and working while I eat lunch. When you feel overwhelmed with tasks, you might not feel like you have much of a choice. Taking 20 minutes to get away from your desk WILL make a difference in your productivity. I try to eat lunch sometimes in the lobby where there’s a lot of natural light coming in. It puts me in such a good mood + will allow you to decompress properly. Once your 20 minutes is up, get back to work and you’ll be pleasantly surprised in your work ethic.
5. Keep a ZonePerfect® Bar With You
We ALL get the afternoon munchies. Hitting the vending machine down the hallway for a bag of potato chips might sound like a really good idea at the time, but you are 1) wasting money and 2) making an extremely unhealthy choice, for no reason!
