Today I’m sharing with you guys some tips I wish I would have known a long time ago. I used to be that person that woke up at the absolute last minute and I hated my mornings and felt so stressed during the day because of it! However, since I started graduate school, I am learning how to balance teaching, classes, and blogging. Implementing these tips has helped my productivity so much, and my mornings are now my favorite part of the day. I hope these tips can help you, too!
1) Wake up earlier
This is probably the hardest thing to do, but you need to do it! Waking up late makes you feel more rushed and you are more stressed throughout the day because of it. Start out by just trying to get up 30 minutes to an hour earlier!
2) Dont hit the snooze
I know you are already thinking about it, but don’t do it! Falling back asleep after you hit the snooze button makes it harder to wake up the second time because your sleep cycle is off. Just get up the first time, trust me it’s so much easier! Hitting the snooze one time, turns into 5 times. I would know because Nathan does this all the time at 5 o’clock in the morning. 🙂 #blessed
3) Eat breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! You hear it all the time, but it’s so true! Eating a well-balanced breakfast will give you the energy you need to be productive and start your day off right. Eggs and turkey bacon are my go-to! If you don’t want to spend the time making breakfast, overnight oats are another great option.
4) Keep your room tidy
It stresses me out to wake up to a messy room. Keep your room tidy the night before and wake up to your room being in order will help more than you might think!
5) Prep for the day
Don’t wake up in the morning not knowing what your plan for the day is. Keeping a planner and mapping out what you have going on + what you need to get done is a great way to stay on track for a productive day. Sunday mornings are great for prepping for the entire week ahead! + an excuse to get Starbucks.
Need I say more?
6) Get something done
I love to get tasks done in the morning, even if it’s just one thing! You can easily throw in a load of laundry, unload the dishwasher, throw dinner in the crockpot, and you will be surprised at how great you feel just by accomplishing some task in the morning. That’s one less thing you have to do when you get home from a long day at work or class!
7) Do something you enjoy
I love mornings for having just a little bit of “me” time. I usually have breakfast + coffee while I check my e-mails and scroll through Instagram and get caught up. I also like to scroll through Pinterest and find new recipes, plan my wedding, and decorate my future home. I’m so prepared for life it’s not even funny!
I hope that these tips can help you fall in love with your mornings like they have me! Mornings don’t have to be dreaded when you can get simple tasks done and do a little something for yourself at the same time.
What’s your morning routine like?
