A meat and cheese board is the perfect appetizer to take to a holiday party or put together for a own cozy dinner party! No two are ever the same, are so easy to put together, and offer something for everyone. Even your pickiest eaters!
I’m so excited to be sharing my version of a holiday meat and cheese board today. Everything I purchased was under $30 from Aldi. They have a great selection of meats, cheeses, fruit and crackers. You’ll be impressed, I promise! I recommend choosing 4 cheeses, 4 meats, 4 crackers, and a couple of fruits, olives, nuts, etc. It gives you plenty of variety and provides enough for a small crowd to snack off of. Sometimes My husband and I will throw one of these together for a light dinner!
I hope you enjoy my tips for making the perfect holiday meat and cheese board.
Picking the Perfect Cheeses.
When picking cheeses for your meat and cheese board don’t get overwhelmed by all the different options. Focus on picking a hard, soft, and something more nutty (like a blue cheese). I personally like an extra sharp cheddar (hard), havarti (soft), cranberry goat (soft) and usually a blue cheese but Aldi was out, so I chose a ghost pepper cheese instead! It worked out. You really cant go wrong! You just want to make sure you have a good variety.
Aldi makes picking meats easy because they sell packs of 3 together. It comes with a mild salami, spicy pepperoni, and a peppered option. I also always pick up a pack of prosciutto because its salty and light. Always a fan favorite! As for crackers, I pick up a variety box that has a ton of cracker options in it. Olive oil, rosemary, wheat, and more!
Adding fruits, nuts, and olives are my favorite ways to add more color to the board. Since its the holidays I put a couple small handfuls of cranberries and a bunch of purple grapes on the board. They are great to snack on in-between meat and cheese and add more color to the board. In the middle of the board, I put a small dish of marinated Greek olives. I highly recommend these! They are amazing and pair with the meat and cheeses perfectly.
You can also add color to your board by adding other fruits like pomegranate, oranges, blueberries, etc. or even nuts! If you want to get really fancy you can add a few springs of rosemary or thyme.
Whether you’re taking an appetizer to a small dinner party or hosting a large holiday party a meat and cheese board is the perfect appetizer that will keep all of your guests happy.
