My Acne Fighting Skincare Routine
It has taken me quite some time to really get my acne fighting skincare routine down. I have been battling cystic hormonal acne for several years now, and feel like I have been let down by just about every acne fighting beauty product on the market. After a couple years of trial and error, money wasted, I finally feel like I am in a place where my acne is under control and my scars are healing. Thanks to a healthier diet, exercise, and some amazing products I’ve discovered!
If you’re someone who is also battling acne prone skin I hope this post is helpful for you! Battling acne in your 20’s can be so discouraging and can really take a toll on your self-esteem. I’ve been there, i’m still there sometimes, and I am here for you! Now, lets get into some skincare!
I should also clarify that all of these products I am about to mention are all part of my evening skincare routine. I don’t do too much in the mornings besides put on some spf moisturizer.
Step 1: Tula Purifying Face Cleanser
I have talked and talked and talked about this cleanser on repeat for over a year. I’ve tried others and they just don’t compare. Tula sets themselves apart with this cleanser that uses probiotics and superfoods to clean deep into your pores while exfoliating and reducing inflammation. I use this with my Clarisonic and it leaves my skin feeling so clean and refreshed. It works with any skin type and is truly a gem. The price and amount you receive is just a bonus!
Step 2: Tula Pro-Glycolic 10% Resurfacing Toner
If you have oily acne prone skin you definitely want to be incorporating a product with glycolic acid into your skincare routine. It’s an amazing exfoliator that removes excess oil without drying out your skin. It also supports natural and radiant skin. I apply this toner after I use the face cleanser.
Step 3: Sunday Riley U.F.O Ultra-Clarifying Oil
I know what you’re thinking “I have oily acne prone skin and she is telling me to put oil on my face?!” Yep! It was reaaaal hard for me to spend $80 on a product that claimed to prevent and treat acne, an oil none the less! However, for the sake of a possibility of clearer skin and the blog, I did it! This oil has actually been a game changer in my skincare routine. It’s a medicated oil with salicylic acid that gets in your skin to clear out congested pores, precent and treat your acne, and smooth fine lines and wrinkles. It even helps clear up your acne scars, and yes it really does do all of the above! And no, it doesn’t leave your skin greasy at all. It took me about 4 weeks to start seeing some results with this product but it has completely changed my skin. I started having less breakouts, and the breakouts I did experience cleared up pretty quickly. I also have seen a dramatic change in the color of my acne scars.
Step 4: Fresh Lotus Youth-Preserve Dream Night Cream
Once the oil has dried on my skin I apply my night cream. This cream is so luxurious you’d think it cost $200. When I wake up in the morning my skin is fresh, bright and super smooth.
Step 5: Murad Rapid Relief Acne Spot Treatment
Put this spot treatment on a blemish before bed, wake up in the morning and wonder if the pimple you had was just a bad nightmare. Seriously! Okay it’s not magic, but anytime I get a bad cyst I apply this and it’s gone in two days. Those usually would take me at least a week to get rid of! It’s a 2% salicylic acid that fights blemishes and redness quick! Sometimes I put a little on before I do my makeup in the mornings and i’ll notice a difference in a blemish by the afternoon.
What’s in your acne fighting skincare routine? I’d love to know!
xo, Rach
