Winter Skin Care Essentials for Glowing Skin

Oh my gosh you guys it has been one cold Chicago winter! (like negatives) With it being so cold, I have to pamper my skin extra extra. My skin started getting really dry back in November, and because of that I was a flaky, cracked, pimpled mess. Naturally, I panicked and ran to my nearest safe haven (aka Sephora) and literally bought all the things. I tried product after product, and finally found the perfect regimen for me! It’s January, and my skin is as bright + glowing as a girl leaving her island vacation in June. Since these products have worked so well for me, I thought I’d share!

OleHenriksen Face the Truth Gel Cleanser

This cleanser is by far the most refreshing cleanser i’ve ever used. It smells like oranges because of the Vitamin C in it, and leaves your skin with that tingly feeling. Vitamin C is also the best for brightening the skin! This cleanser reminds me so much of the Clean & Clear Morning Shower Burst (I think thats the name) that I remember using back in Jr. High! So nostaligc. I especially like this in the morning because it helps wake me up and get me started for the day. If you don’t like gel cleansers, you can also get it as a foaming wash.

OleHenriksen Truth Serum

This serum is incredible! I use it after I cleanse with the Face the Truth Cleanser, and they work so well together! This serum not only has Vitamin C in it to brighten the skin, but it also has collagen in it to help firm and hydrate the skin. Green tea is also a main ingredient to help revive your skin. Another reason why it’s perfect for the morning! If you’re wondering why this is a little bit pricey, it’s because of the collagen, but totally worth it!

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration

I literally want to take a bath in this moisturizer. It’s that good. It’s meant for very dry skin, but any skin type is going to benefit from this cream. A little goes a long way, so the 6oz jar of this will last you forever. It doesn’t leave your skin greasy, and you’ll feel the hydration right away. Also, just going to throw a little research out there… 100% of research study participants reported that the product helped soothe and hydrate the skin + 100% also said it helped with longterm hydration (Sephora). 100%!! I never see beauty brands get 100% in their research studies. It’s a big deal.

Josie Maran 100% Pure Light Argan Oil

I’ve been using the Josie Maran 100% Pure Light Argan oil for a couple of years now because it’s amazing for acne prone skin. I started out just using it as a night treatment because I loved how it made my skin feel, and I always woke up with a nice glow. It also never irritated my breakouts, which serums can often do. Since it has gotten colder, my skin has been drying out quickly during the day when I just wear my foundation. I was sitting at my desk all day literally so unable to focus because my skin was so uncomfortable. I experimented one day by adding a drop of this to 1 1/2 pumps of my foundation and instantly was hooked! It didn’t make my skin look or feel oily, AT ALL. Plus, it gave my skin an awesome glow + stayed well moisturized all day. Highly recommend adding a little bit of this to your foundation if you struggle with dry acne prone skin in the winter!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer

This bronzer deserves 5 stars and I’m so surprised it hasn’t won an Allure beauty award or anything, yet! I went into Sephora one day on a mission to find THE holy grail bronzer. I’m not exaggerating when I say I tried every single one in the store on myself and Nathan because I was running out of room on my own body, LOL. This bronzer was the only one that delivered on what I wanted. I’m not really into the contour look anymore, so a lot of bronzers were out. The bronzers that weren’t contouring powders either had an orange undertone or were just too dark for me. Um, Can us pale girls get some love, please? k thanks. What I love most about this bronzer is that it isn’t much darker than my natural skin, so it really does just give you that sun kissed glow our skin craves in the winter time! I hate when beauty brands put sparkles in their skin products. If your acne prone or oily skinned I’m sure you feel my pain. It makes you breakout or accentuates the oil in your skin. Cuuuute. The ambient bronzer has no sparkles, thank god, but instead photoluminescent technology which gives you the most gorgeous radiant glow EVERRR. It’s the perfect finishing touch to give my skin a radiant flush perfect the winter!

Winter does a number on my skin! I have heard such good things about the Truth Serum, and I am eager to try it. The bronzer sounds like a great buy as well! Because I’m brown skinned, I find that bronzers often work better for me than blush…especially in the winter!

This bronzer would look GORGEOUS on your cheeks! Sometimes I wear it by itself, too! It really just gives you the perfect glow.
