What to Wear When You Have Nothing to Wear Outfit Formula

It’s Saturday night girls night/date night and you’re literally standing in your closet yelling into your full rack of clothes “I have nothing to wear!” Yes, we have alllllll been there. I can relate a little too much to that meme that talks about spending all your money on clothes, but you only have like 4 tops to choose from. I finally realized what I was doing wrong. I spent so much time buying those “cutesy” tops. You know the off the shoulder top with the ruffles, embroidery, and tassels and bs allover it? You know which one I’m talking about it. We all have several of them!

My point is, how often do we wear that top? How versatile is it? Can it take you from work to happy hour? Can you comfortably shop in it all day and then wear it straight to dinner? Probably not. It’s such a struggle as a blogger sometimes because you think you need to be sharing the ~latest~ IT ruffled top every other girl on Instagram is wearing because you think that’s what you’re supposed to do and that’s what people want. Ugh, that ish gets so stale + so boring SO quick, so here we are. Today, we are getting back to basics.

Basics. The pieces in your closet that never fail you. The pieces you should invest in because they will last you years and you will reach for them again and again. Now, I never have that “I have nothing to wear problem” because I have been curating a beautiful closet full of nice tees, jackets, and good denim. The #ootd options are endless……

So here’s the formula: If you have multiple tees, a couple of jackets, and several pairs of denim, you’ll never not have something to wear + you can mix and match so you are never wearing the same thing.

What are you always reaching for in your closet?
